Today I have been
researching my next weekend away and I think I have decided on Scotland again.
I love it so much up there and my last break was incredible, climbing Ben Nevis
and camping in the Highlands. There’s nothing like heading into the great
outdoors and explore nature at its best. My friend and I had searched on
mybudgetbreak for cheap weekend breaks to Scotland and we managed to do it on a
budget. Sleeper coach to Scotland, camping for accommodation and the odd train
here and there made it quite a cheap holiday. This time, I’m determined as ever
to get up there again on a budget, only this time, I want to head to Arran, one
of Scotland’s incredible islands off of it’s West Coast.
Having done
my research, I’ve found that if you book flights early enough, you can fly to
Glasgow from London for about £60pp which is actually cheaper than the sleeper
coach. It does mean having to spend time at airports but anything to get a
break from the daily grind!
I’ll no
doubt be writing about it closer to the time, however, I figured if I put pen
to paper (or rather hands to keyboard), I would be a lot more determined to
book these weekend breaks that I keep planning, rather than just spending hours
researching and talking about it. The trip I want to do will cost about £200
which is a little more than I was hoping to spend on a short break, plus any
food and activities I want to do up there so it looks like it’s going to really
add up but I’m sure I can keep the costs down. I just have to be flexible and
make sure I don’t go booking anything too out of my league, like a five-star
luxury spa break or anything.
Having been
a travel agent, it all comes in handy when I research a holiday, or in my case,
hundreds of holiday ideas. I know where to look, I know who to fly and I know
what sort of hotels I want to stay in. Well I kind of do. But then I end up
spending so much time researching breaks that I get lost in it all and waste
hours and hours hunting for the perfect holiday. What doesn’t help is my indecisiveness.
When I’m left with half a dozen hotel options (all of which I have struggled to
whittle down from a long list), that’s when the trouble starts and I start
wondering which I will like more, do I have a cheap weekend break and stay
further out, or pay extra to be closer into my desired locations. Sometimes
being very chilled out can have it’s weaknesses.
